Pea (Snowpea) - Oregon Sugar Pod Seeds - Pisum sativum
Oregon Sugar Pod is a robust, high-yielding bush pea variety, growing to a height of 90 to 120 cm. The plants produce flat, 10 cm pods that retain their vibrant green colour and offer a crisp, tender texture with a delicious, sweet flavour. The peas inside the pods are small, tender, and sweet. A distinctive feature of this variety is its ability to produce pods in clusters of two, making it more productive than many other pea varieties.
This variety is ideal for shorter growing seasons, especially in cooler climates. Oregon Sugar Pod is highly resistant to common pea diseases, including wilt, pea enation virus, and streak virus. It is a fast-growing plant that can be harvested multiple times throughout the season using the "pick-and-grow-again" method, yielding up to four harvests in a single season. These peas are typically ready for harvest in 60 to 65 days, making them a great choice for home gardeners.
Oregon Sugar Pod is rich in Vitamins A, B, and C. The entire pod is edible, giving it the French name mange-tout, which means "eat it all." These sweet, crunchy pods are perfect for stir-fries, or can be eaten raw in salads. Fresh snow peas provide an outstanding flavour, whether cooked or raw.
