The 'White Egg' eggplant is a distinctive variety renowned for its small, ivory-colored, egg-shaped fruits that hang gracefully from the plant, creating an attractive display. These compact fruits are ideal for extended harvesting periods, making them well-suited for kitchen gardens or ornamental plantings. The plant's canopy allows the fruits to dangle elegantly, enhancing its visual appeal. Typically, 'White Egg' eggplants reach maturity approximately 40 to 45 days after transplanting.​

Cultivation Guidelines:

• Climate: Eggplants thrive in warm conditions, with optimal growth occurring at temperatures between 21°C to 29°C. ​

• Soil: They prefer well-drained, fertile, sandy loam soils with a pH range of 5.5 to 6.8.

• Planting: Seeds should be started indoors 8 to 10 weeks before the last expected frost date. Maintain daytime temperatures between 21°C to 27°C and nighttime temperatures between 18°C to 21°C to ensure healthy seedling development. 

• Transplanting: Once seedlings are 6 to 8 weeks old and all danger of frost has passed, transplant them outdoors into soil that has reached a temperature of 18°C to 21°C. Ensure the location receives full sun, with 8 to 10 hours of direct sunlight daily. 

• Spacing: Space plants approximately 76 cm apart in rows that are 0.9 to 1.2 meters apart to allow for adequate air circulation and growth. ​

• Watering: Provide consistent moisture, aiming for about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of water per week, and consider mulching to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds. ​

• Fertilisation: Apply a balanced fertiliser according to soil test recommendations to support healthy growth and fruit production. ​

• Pest Management: Monitor for common pests such as flea beetles, aphids, and spider mites. Implement integrated pest management strategies, including the use of companion plants like marigolds and oregano to deter pests and encourage beneficial insects.
