Growing Instructions

Start seeds indoors 8–10 weeks before your planned planting date. Eggplants thrive in warmth, with optimal germination at around 24°C. Using a heat mat or another source of bottom heat can improve germination if indoor temperatures are cooler. Lightly cover seeds when sowing in seed trays, and expect germination within 1–2 weeks.

Seedlings require plenty of light and warmth. If possible, place them under grow lights or directly beneath kitchen fluorescents. Feed weekly for strong growth. Once they develop at least two sets of true leaves, they are ready for transplanting—but wait until the weather is consistently warm before moving them into garden beds or patio containers.
