The Onion: Allium cepa

‘Red Odourless’ is a reliable intermediate-day onion variety producing large, round bulbs with deep red skin and crisp white flesh. The mild, sweet flavour makes it ideal for salads, sandwiches, roasting, grilling and everyday cooking.

Well suited to Australian growing conditions, this productive variety develops firm, uniform bulbs and performs best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. The bulbs can also be stored for medium-term use when properly cured.

Cultivation: Sow directly into prepared soil or raise in trays for transplanting. Keep soil consistently moist during early growth and avoid waterlogging. Thin seedlings to allow adequate space for bulb development and reduce watering as the bulbs mature.

Harvest: Approximately 110-140 days. Harvest when the foliage begins to yellow and naturally falls over. Cure harvested bulbs in a dry, shaded, well-ventilated area before storing.
